Gomez Floor Covering currently has an employment opportunity in our San Antonio location for Flooring Installer. The Flooring Installer performs work involved in the installation, modification and repair of all types of flooring as required. This is a full-time position. Schedule varies with peak seasons and jobs under contract. Generally, jobs are scheduled during the week but weekends are possible, as well as range in hours.
Duties Include:
- Inspecting the surface to be covered to determine its condition and, if necessary, correcting any imperfections.
- Properly using, maintaining and accounting for all tools required to accomplish job assignment.
- Disconnecting and removing appliances, and worn floor covering from floors, and cabinets.
- Cutting flooring material to fit around obstructions.
- Installing various types of flooring (carpet, carpet tile, VCT, LVT, resilient, ceramic) following prescribed method for each application.
- Fastening various types of transition across door openings or where carpet meets flooring to hold carpet in place.
- Measuring, cutting and applying various base finish.
- Managing own time and the time of Laborers. May manage/coordinate site operations in the absence of the Team Lead.
- Maintaining inventory control and informing appropriate personnel (Team Lead/Warehouseman) of required items for project completion.
- Transporting material, staff or equipment as needed.
- Utilizing safety practices and procedures and following established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
